Newborn photoshoots held in my photography studio in Hampshire are one of my absolute favourite sessions. These nostalgic memories with your newborn are a precious time that you will never want to forget; a milestone in your life you may have always dreamed of which goes by so quickly. Before you decide to take the step and book your newborn studio photo shoot, you may have a few questions in mind, one of them I’m sure being ‘What photos do photographers take during a newborn studio photoshoot?’ – well let me tell you!
As a natural-style newborn photographer, I like to focus on capturing your baby simply and beautifully in a timeless fashion. My studio is a classic light and airy space decorated with natural earthy elements, from pampas grass and wooden toys to heirloom quality clothing and blankets. I use simple props and natural positions for babies and family so we can focus on capturing real moments and emotions – no buckets, bunting and old-fashioned animal outfits here!
I like to focus on:
The moment your baby is born you realise how tiny they are; their teeny fingers, toes, mouths, ears–every part of them is perfectly minuscule.
Newborns all have their unique features too. Maybe your baby was born with the cutest tuft of hair or birthmark–you need to show them this when they are adults!
But trust me, as a mother myself I realised how quickly they grow and you forget how small they once were in your arms, their fingers just a few centimeters long. The best way to look back and remember this is to have a newborn studio photoshoot that captures all of their delicious details in a nostalgic yet high-quality way.
Naturally, you’ll remember the hardest part of motherhood during this stage, the permanent exhaustion and losing track of time, but it is so important to remember the love and bond you had in this hazy stage too.
Some of the best times during the newborn stage are the sleepy moments because that’s what they do 90% of the time! Yay for the chesty contact naps! You spend so much time cuddling and napping with them, soaking it all up whilst you can.
So, this is a photo I love to take during a newborn studio photoshoot–where they are the calmest and most content, reminding you of all the sleepy moments you had curled up together.
There is nothing like capturing photos during a newborn studio photoshoot that are real and authentic.
My photography studio in Hampshire is a calm, safe, and relaxing space for a newborn photoshoot and this is key to capturing your newborn at their calmest self. The more at ease you and your newborn feel, the more relaxed the experience will be meaning the memories of these photos being captured are positive and real.
Following on from my previous point about their tiny details, during a newborn studio photoshoot it is important that we capture photos that truly emphasize how small they once were (believe me you quickly forget!).
In the blink of an eye, they are toddlers, on their feet running around wild and carefree. You’ll want to look back at this stage again and again, reminiscing, and they will love them too when they are older.
Newborns do sleep for 90% of the time but when they’re awake they all have their own unique facial expressions that make you swoon!
Those adorable pouty lips, scrunched-up noses and funny faces they pull that make them look like their dad! Your heart wants to hold on to this feeling and remember it all.
These photos I take during a newborn studio photoshoot are some of my favorites – so if we have the privilege of your baby being awake for a little while we will be sure to capture those photos quickly before they doze off again or need a feed!
For those of you who are wondering ‘What photos do photographers take during a newborn studio photoshoot?’ well, now you know! and hopefully, you can see as a newborn photographer, I love capturing all of those key images for you that tell this chapter of your family’s story.
